Communities In Schools of San Antonio’s mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Our vision is giving hope and transforming lives.
Jonathan’s journey to graduation was a transformative experience thanks to the help of his CIS-SA Graduation Coach, James. Jonathan was a quiet student and was unsure of what his future held. He thought about dropping out of school many times to help support his family, but James, Johnathan’s Site Coordinator, was there to provide the necessary support he needed to complete his senior year. James convinced him to look at some of the programs that Alamo Colleges had to offer. Jonathon then discovered a General Motors certification in Auto Body from Palo Alto College. With the financial aid deadline approaching, James and Jonathan worked diligently to get him registered and enrolled on time. “Jonathan became the first in his family to graduate high school and attend college. His success has inspired his cousins to pursue higher education, breaking the cycle of generational poverty. We help students like Jonathan find their paths to success, making a lasting impact on their lives.” – James, CIS-SA Graduation Coach.
Jonathon’s story is a testament of the Communities In Schools of San Antonio’s resources and their help through others to discover their potential through this program. The organization is able to transform the youths’ experience and create a home where they can grow and face challenges they hadn’t been able to before.
