Agarita nourishes the local community through artistic collaborations, education, community engagement, and free, adventurous programming. Founded by four musicians rooted in San Antonio, Agarita is devoted to reaching new audiences by reinventing the concert experience.

A story that exemplifies Agarita’s mission and vision in action involves a recent concert in San Antonio’s District 3. On a sunny afternoon, Agarita set up their Humble Hall (their mobile concert hall) at Pearsall Park, a neighborhood that rarely gets to experience live classical music. Families wandered over, curious about the music beginning to fill the air.

As the concert started, a curious young boy took his grandmother’s chair, placed it front and center, and stayed there, completely still, for the entire performance. Agarita’s members could see the wonder in his eyes; every note seemed to draw him deeper into the music.

The following week, his grandmother reached out with a message that made their hearts soar: the boy had asked her to get him a violin, and he had already begun lessons. That afternoon at Pearsall Park was his very first encounter with classical music — and he was hooked.

Moments like this embody Agarita’s mission: to bring world-class music to every corner of our city, to spark curiosity and ignite a lifelong love of the arts, especially in communities that have had few opportunities to experience it.
